Coping, Awareness and Regulating our emotions Interpersonally while Negotiating Groups is an ongoing, skill-building support group for mothers who are parenting children who have mental health challenges. Group members use a variety of creative art forms as coping strategies, self-esteem builders, and tools to enhance the quality of interpersonal relationships within the family. F.O.C.U.S. Families Organized to Cope, Understand and Succeed is a parent support group that offers parents the opportunity to discuss parenting issues related to their psychiatric/mental health challenges as well as everyday parenting concerns. Call Jo Griffiths, Ext. 143.
Kidology Together I and II Groups provide support and psycho-education to parents and guardians of children who have social, emotional or behavioral issues. Group members develop parenting skills in order to help their children manage their behaviors. This parent group operates as a counterpart to the Kids Together children’s program through Ulster County Mental Health Department. Call Michele Bertelle, Ext. 132.
DBT A seven-week class that offers the entire community the opportunity to learn four key skills designed to help live a more satisfying life: mindfulness, distress tolerance, balancing emotions, and interpersonal effectiveness. These techniques help lead us to our wise mind, which is a healthy balance between the emotional and the logical mind. Call Ext. 128.
