The MHA in Ulster County believes that many children and youth with severe emotional disabilities can benefit from a structured and supportive home and as a result avoid placement in a more restrictive non-family setting. It is further believed that the birth family can be strengthened and supported through training, education and encouragement. Both Family Based Treatment and Intensive Case Management are driven by the needs of the child and his/her family.
