Family of Woodstock

Each year Family of Woodstock benefits from help from hundreds of volunteers. Most receive training and work a 3 hour shift at one of their hotlines. Some sort clothing in our "free stores", help organize food pantries, work at free holiday events, or read to children in the child care center. Volunteer training is offered in Woodstock, New Paltz, and Ellenville throughout the year. The next one may be starting soon. Call your nearest hotline office for their schedule.

Compeer Mentor

Volunteer to become a Compeer Mentor. It is as simple as being a friend. All of us know that occasionally someone befriends us and touches our lives. That someone cares about our well being without expecting anything in return. Because they believe in us, we are encouraged to believe in ourselves.

The Compeer Program of Ulster County has been very successful in making friends and changing lives since 1984. Compeer matches caring volunteers in one to one friendships with persons receiving mental health services. Matches meet for an hour or more a week and go to the movies, out to lunch or shopping. Mentors have a unique opportunity to really make a difference in their friendÕs lives. During the Compeer training, Mentors learn about the strengths, needs and opportunities available for their friend. There are 164 hours in a week and we only need 1!
